How to Measure

A sketch of a Bedi coat with dotted lines around the chest, waist, and hips to show where to measure

Chest — wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of the chest, keeping the measuring tape flat against the body, and parallel to the ground.

Waist — wrap the measuring tape around your natural waist, the narrowest part of the torso.

Hips — measure the widest part of your hips.

 Tips for the best measurement:

— Keep the measuring tape flat against the body, but do not tighten it too much. It should be taught enough to not slip down, but not feel constraining.

— Ensure the measuring tape is parallel to the ground to get the most accurate measurement.

— Stand straight with your feet hip-width apart.

— Measure yourself while wearing the typical clothing you would wear with a winter coat, to get the best sense of fit for your everyday life.

If you find you're between sizes, we recommend sizing up for a little more wiggle room.

Machine wash on a gentle cycle with cold water and gentle detergent (preferably biodegradable). Lay flat to dry. Using a steamer on your outerwear piece will remove any wrinkles.

Tip 1: Place your outerwear piece in the dryer on a low temperature for up to 5 minutes to remove humidity and to fluff up the multilayer insulation.

Tip 2: To naturally steam your piece, hang in the bathroom while taking your morning shower.

F.A.Q.

Your most common questions, answered. If you don't see your question below, email us anytime at contact@bedistudios.com — we're here to help!

It doesn't get as cold as -30°C here — will this be too warm for me?

Not at all. While our coats can handle extreme cold (down to -30°C), they’re designed to be versatile enough for everyday wear. Most people comfortably wear them from around +10°C to deep winter temps—making them a solid three-season option.

What makes that possible? A few things:

- Lightweight synthetic insulation (not down), which means no puffball bulk and no overheating indoors or on mild days.

- A windproof ballistic nylon shell, so wind doesn't cut through—this lets us use less insulation overall, while still keeping you warm when you need it.

- Thoughtful design that traps warmth without trapping sweat.

Is the insulation down?

Nope! We use a lightweight, high-performance synthetic insulation called Isosoft, which is cruelty-free and retains warmth—even after multiple washes. You can read more about it here.

Is it waterproof?

Our winter coats are highly water-resistant and windproof, perfect for snow, wet snow, and drizzly days.

It is technically "water-resistant", not "waterproof" because the seams aren’t sealed. However, the exterior is made from ballistic nylon—a super tightly woven, abrasion-resistant fabric that repels water well. There’s also a thin water-resistant membrane underneath for extra protection.

Water will bead off at first, and even in steady rain it holds up impressively. Because the seams aren’t sealed, in a long, steady downpour, some moisture can eventually work its way in (we’re talking hours, not minutes).

Unlike down, the synthetic insulation stays warm even when wet and doesn’t get heavy or soggy. And there’s no chemical waterproof coating—just smart, durable materials doing the work.

Looking for full waterproof protection? Check out our MONSOON raincoat—it’s fully seam-sealed and made for the big storms.

Can I wash my coat?

Yes! The coat is machine washable. We just recommend air drying—it takes about a day. Please skip the dryer (it doesn’t like the heat).

Do you offer a warranty?

We're very proud to offer a Lifetime Guarantee on all our coats and bags. Your coat is covered for life against any manufacturer defects. That means that 20 years from now, if your zipper breaks, or a seam pops, we’ll get it fixed for you.

What’s not covered under the warranty? We don’t cover accidental damage (say, if you lay it on a hot barbecue or back over it with your car). But accidents happen! If you need a repair, send us an email— we want you to be able to continue enjoying your coat, and we can usually repair it for a small fee.

How do I choose my size?

If you love a chunky knit sweater in the winter, we suggest sizing up for wiggle room— especially in the shoulders and arms. Check our Size Guide for detailed measurements, and if you're still not sure, email us anytime at contact@bedistudios.com — we're happy to help!

What’s your return policy?

You have 45 days to return or exchange your coat. You can wear it out (we want you to feel confident in it!), but it must come back in good condition—no stains or damage. If it’s returned dirty, we may have to reject the return. Return shipping is not covered.
