As humans, we tend to crave a bit of change. Whether a new season, a shift in style, a change in scenery, or just something different. In fashion, these moments often come with a hidden cost. For decades, "out with the old" has meant closets cleared, bags tossed, and landfills quietly filling.
The fashion industry is one of the most polluting in the world, responsible for millions of tonnes of textile waste each year— an estimated 92 million tonnes annually, according to recent reports.
But there’s another way forward. Instead of seeing clothing as disposable, we can view it as part of a longer journey: designed to last, adaptable to our changing lives, and something to be passed along rather than thrown away. At BEDI, this philosophy is at the heart of our Second Life Program. It allows you to embrace change, whether a new style, a new fit, or a new chapter, with the confidence that you previous coat, bag or knit will not end up as textile waste.
Timeless Pieces, Built to Last
At BEDI Studios, we’ve always believed in designing pieces that are timeless in every sense of the word. From coats to bags, everything we create is crafted in Canada with durable materials and components chosen to last. That’s why every piece comes with a lifetime guarantee: not only to last through the years, but to last beyond you.
It’s also why we created the Second Life Program as a way to change styles sustainably, without ever sending your BEDI piece to a landfill.
How It Works
If you find yourself ready for a change, you can return your BEDI coat or bag through the Second Life Program.
In exchange, you’ll receive a 25% credit toward a new piece of equal or similar value, that better suits your lifestyle, size, or simply your mood.
The original piece is then refurbished to like-new condition, ready to be enjoyed by someone else for many more years to come.
The Inspiration
This initiative grew directly from our community. Some of our earliest clients, still wearing their original BEDI pieces, told us that while they loved their coats and bags, their needs had shifted. A change in lifestyle meant a longer coat was now more practical. A different size was now a better fit. A new job meant a different bag style better suited their work and commute.
We wanted to honour those changes without sacrificing what we care most about: keeping every piece out of landfill. The Second Life Program is our way of making sure BEDI designs continue their journey.
Why It Matters
Fashion doesn’t have to be disposable. In fact, it shouldn’t be.
Globally, an estimated 92 million tonnes of textile waste end up in landfills every year. At the same time, demand for sustainable shopping is growing rapidly: resale and pre-loved fashion are now among the fastest-growing segments in the industry.
By choosing a Second Life piece (or exchanging your own!) you’re not just updating your wardrobe. You’re contributing to a circular model that keeps clothing in use, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and helps reshape what fashion can look like.
Every BEDI design is created with this bigger picture in mind. From upcycled nylon made from fishing nets, to salvaged leathers, our materials are chosen to clean up oceans and lands while creating classic pieces that will last decades, not seasons.
Our Second Life program is a natural extension of this ethos: timeless design that adapts with you, while keeping our planet in mind.
