Montreal completely transforms in autumn. Whether you're living in this belle ville or just visiting, the slight chill in the air, the golden light, and richly coloured trees bring a cozy beauty to every day. Things slow down a bit after the summer, and activities take on a more comfortable, relaxed pace. It's a beautiful time of year, and there are plenty of ways to enjoy it!
Cozy up with a coffee (or tea)

The first instinct, when temperatures start to drop, is to grab a good coffee to warm up. Cafe Alphabet, in the Mile End, is one of our favourite spots for that. Not only is the coffee excellent, but the place has a laid-back vibe that’s perfect for spending an hour or two reading or chatting with friends. In the fall, the large windows let in just the right amount of light, and there’s always a gentle buzz that accompanies the neighbourhood.
But once you’re warmed up, autumn in Montreal is best enjoyed outdoors! One of the best things about the fall season is that the slightly cooler temperatures are perfect for getting outside and being active without sweltering in the summer heat.
Climb Mount Royal
Mount Royal has always been a go-to spot for those looking to enjoy a bit of nature in the heart of the city. If you’re up for a modest hike, the trail up to the summit is fairly easy, and the views of the city are absolutely worth it. In the autumn months, the changing colours of the surrounding trees make the views extra striking. Even if you’re not a regular hiker, the fresh air and seasonal landscapes turn the climb into an enjoyable experience, especially on weekends when the city is a bit quieter. Whether it’s a short walk or a longer hike, Mount Royal remains one of the best destinations for a simple but enjoyable outdoor activity in autumn.
And if, like us, you enjoy combining physical activity with a bit of relaxation, you can easily plan a morning hike followed by an afternoon visit to Jean-Talon Market. Fall is prime time for apples, pumpkins, and local produce. The market is full of fresh goods, and there’s always a lively atmosphere when strolling around. Local growers are often there to chat and recommend what’s in season, making the market a wonderful way to get out and soak up the autumn vibes. While you're there, we recommend stopping by “le café du marché” as well, which serves some of the best hot chai in town.
Go apple picking
If you’re up for a day trip out of the city, autumn is also the perfect season for a getaway to the orchards around Montreal. Apple picking is a simple but satisfying activity, and you get to bring home a bag full of apples– what’s not to love! Some orchards even offer picnics or family-friendly activities on-site for an extra autumnal experience. This kind of outing doesn’t require much preparation, and is a great way to enjoy the outdoors while taking a break from the city buzz.
Visit Royalmount
If you’re looking for an indoor activity, a new addition to Montreal’s array of activities is the brand new Royalmount shopping centre. Located halfway between downtown and the airport, this massive complex offers a modern shopping experience combined with entertainment and dining options. It also has the benefit of being easily accessible by public transport.
In the fall, when we’re faced with some chilly, damp days, it can be an interesting place to explore without having to face the weather. Whether you want to do a bit of shopping, try out some new restaurants, or attend cultural events hosted there, Royalmount provides an option for a comfortable afternoon indoors while still enjoying the city's energy. If you visitm be sure to visit our friends Maison Alltrueist, where you will find a selection of BEDI products.
As cozy as autumn can be, this isn’t a season for just curling up indoors! It’s the perfect time to get out and see Montreal from a new perspective. Whether you’re enjoying a coffee in the Mile End, walking the trails of Mount Royal, or taking a trip to the market, there’s always something to do to make this time of year enjoyable. No need for big adventures or excessive planning—just follow the city’s rhythm and savour the everyday pleasures that autumn offers.
